Why Submit My Blog
08/15/09
The foremost question on the minds of most up and coming bloggers is "Why should I submit my blog to directories?" The answers to this question are quite varied, with some opting to submit to several blog directories at a time, with others failing to see much point in it. Based on my impressions of most web experts' opinions however, I have realized favorable results when I submit my blog to a small number of blog directories soon after starting it up.
What I quickly learned when I submit my blog to blog directories was that I was able to garner backlinks in a fairly short time. This has allowed my websites to be found more easily by the major search engines, which then indexed my sites and caused them to rank higher in search results.
Search engines particularly value these links. In most cases, search engines rank pages that have such links higher, since they are generally considered to be more worthy of linking to. it was this realization that allowed me to get favorable results after I submit my blog to a few directories. I also learned that it wasn't actually the directory list that gave me more hits on my site.
There is a bit of dispute about the proper number of blog directories to submit my blog to. Opinions range from the modest to the outlandish, with some people of the thinking that I should submit my blog to as many different blog directories as I could manage.
Many web experts agree that as little as 5 to 10 blog directories may actually be more than enough. For although search engines are attracted to sites that have plenty of links, they are more likely to place a higher value on links that are featured on on topic posts and articles, as opposed to those that come from blog directories.
The question that this all brings up is how do I find blog directories to submit my blog to? I found that a search for "blog directory" got me several leads in this regard. In fact, many of the better blog directories came in at the top of the search results pages.
I have often run into blog directories that require me to post backlinks or impose certain other requirements. I thought that I would be better off skipping those, as there are certainly many other directories that allow me to submit my blog without complicating matters too much.
Many of the blog directories I tried out were simple to submit content to. I felt that it would be best to skip the ones that take longer, and instead spend a few minutes in order to submit my blog only to a few blog directories. I was then able to focus on producing better content that resulted in more links.
